ETERNAL IMPERMANENCE, ETERNAL VANISHING

Monday, April 15th, at 5 PM, the poetry collection by Eva di Palma “ETERNAL IMPERMANENCE, ETERNAL VANISHING” (Erasmo Editions 2024) will be presented at Bottini dell’Olio, conference room of the Biblioteca Labronica (1st floor) Piazza del Luogo Pio. With the author, Paolo Cosci.

From the preface to the book edited by Paolo Cosci:

Eterna impermanenza, eterno svanire is the first poetry collection by Eva di Palma, a poet born in the 1980s. […] It is a wise collection that combines human knowledge without any distinctions. Exemplary in this regard is the epigraph that opens the third section, Contractions, where the author quotes a passage from Carlo Rovelli in which the physicist considers Poetry and Science as daughters of a single intuition. In the same section, there are texts with references to the body, flesh, veins, mineral bones; a body yes but ‘filled with humor’: human beings, the poet are the result of these grafts but the starting point is always the body, the physicality in action, the awareness of being here and now: It is said that the thighs of women / have lost their grip; not mine / and my strawberries always have / a new flavor. Eterna impermanenza, eterno svanire shows its debt to various contemporary poets, two in particular: Ivano Ferrai and Chandra Livia Candiani. The collection is subtly imbued with ancient Eastern wisdom: from the need to forget, to yield to events, to all that is beyond the perimeter of one’s own body both in the first section and in the final verses of the text at the end of the fifth section: We must learn from trees, / standing, firm on the ground, but able / to be caressed by the wind / and to tickle the air, / they know that to lose is to lighten. Eva di Palma already shows in this first collection an autonomous, never aligned voice.”
