The regional project for emerging talents in Tuscany

In the context of the 41st edition of Effetto Venezia focused on the theme “Near Future – Ideas and stories of the new generations”, the Fondazione LEM – Livorno Euro Mediterranea has decided to promote original music and young ensemble realities through the regional competition “EFFETTO BAND”.

Under the artistic direction of Grazia Di Michele — leading the event for the third consecutive year, the initiative was born with the aim of enhancing the new musical languages of the territory, offering emerging formations the possibility to express their creativity and tread the stage of importance in the Tuscan cultural panorama.

The Project and the Showcase at Fortezza Nuova

The competition was aimed at bands and musical formations in Tuscany composed mostly of young people aged between 15 and 25 years. For the selected musical realities, the festival reserved one of the most suggestive and iconic spaces of the event: the historical setting of Fortezza Nuova, where the groups will have the opportunity to perform live and present their original projects to the large audience of Effetto Venezia.

The Selection and Evaluation Criteria

The choice of formations destined to enter the official program of the event was entrusted to a specific technical commission of experts, operating under the direct supervision of the artistic director Grazia Di Michele. The evaluation of the proposals was based on three fundamental pillars:

• Originality of the artistic proposal: the freshness of ideas, the innovation of lyrics, and the overall musical research.
• Quality of execution: the technical level of individual musicians and the cohesion of the band as a whole.
• Stage presence: the charisma on stage and the attitude towards performance and the impact of the live set.
