The Women in Music festival, organized by the Il Sestante Solidarietà aps Association, Centro Donna, and the Municipality of Livorno, will end on Saturday, December 14th, at Centro Donna in Largo Strozzi, 3, under the artistic direction of Chiara Pellegrini.
Close Saturday, December 14th, at the Women’s Center in Largo Strozzi, 3, the Women in Music showcase promoted by the Il Sestante Solidarietà aps Association, the Women’s Center, and the Livorno Municipality, with the artistic direction of Chiara Pellegrini.
The last of the three scheduled events is dedicated to female singer-songwriters.
After the two previous meetings dedicated to women in folk music and the fight against violence against women, the showcase will conclude with “The Women’s Songwriting”. Two incredibly talented artists will perform: the very young emerging artist Violet with her pedals and electronic sounds and Valeria Caliandro, a Tuscan singer-songwriter with a great experience, pianist, singer, and teacher who will perform solo.
Remember that Women in Music is an all-female showcase that has seen six artists perform in a monthly meeting from October to December, dedicated to the mother of all arts: Music.
PROGRAM FOR THE EVENING
6:30 pm – Brief introduction by Artistic Director Chiara Pellegrini;

7:15 pm – VALERIA CALIANDRO, vocals, piano, and guitar;
Violet is a Livornese singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, born in 2000. Despite comfortably residing in Pop, her style is varied, matured among years spent in the conservatory, those in which she was part of a gospel choir, and her passion for every musical genre, especially screamo and punk.
Violet made her first television appearance in 2019, on the program The Voice of Italy, where she was part of Team Morgan, then participated in Dream Hit 2020 and wrote and sang a song for the Ruffini film “Ragazzaccio” released in 2022.
With figurative (often mythological) lyrics that reflect on the world we live in, everyday life, but also talk about battles with depression and anxiety, she addresses everything with sarcastic, ironic, and direct tones in a world that goes from fairy-tale to Goth.
Valeria Caliandro was born in Florence. She has been studying classical piano since the age of six, sang in a gospel choir during her childhood, and started studying guitar at twenty. At the same time, she nurtured a love for writing and has been writing songs ever since.
In 2012 she published her first album, “Immaculate Chaos”, under the pseudonym ‘Vilrouge’. In the same years, she published stories in literary magazines of the Florentine scene. In 2015 she played before Francesco De Gregori.
In 2017, she opened Carmen Consoli’s “Eco di Sirene Tour” in Tuscan theaters. In 2019, she stripped away the band dimension and released the album ‘La seducente assenza’, produced by Lorenzo Tommasini, under her birth name.
She will bring the songs on tour throughout Italy in an acoustic formation, piano, vocals, and strings, together with cellist Sara Soderi and violinist Jacopo Ciani. In 2022, “Miniature” for Black Candy Productions was released, with the collaboration of Paolo Benvegnù and Eugenio Sournia (Siberia).
Remember that all events are free entry, without reservation, and seats are limited; therefore, we recommend punctuality.
