DIN DON DOWN
with PAOLO RUFFINI
and COMPAGNIA MAYOR VON FRINZIUS
Second collaboration between the livornese showman and the company of actors with disabilities, a new irreverent and sacrilegious variety show that challenges the boundaries of “politically correct” by investigating a new great concept: the divine in all its forms. Everyone knows “Up&Down”, the variety show with Paolo Ruffini and the actors of Compagnia Mayor Von Frinzius, which, since its debut in 2018, has enchanted audiences throughout Italy. Because “Up & Down” is not just a comedy show, a revolutionary project, an alternative theater model, but a real cultural phenomenon that year after year has conquered its space in the collective imagination and in the Italian artistic heritage, with over 200 performances throughout Italy and more than 120,000 tickets sold.
Today Paolo Ruffini and the actors of Compagnia Mayor Von Frinzius have decided to overcome themselves with a new and unmissable show, “DIN DON DOWN – In search of (D)io” on tour from October 17th in theaters throughout Italy: a new comic happening, without rules, that overturns the deepest sense of what we persist in defining as “normal”, with the aim of surprising and enchanting through the right mix of comedy, disobedience and tenderness that had already marked the success of “Up&Down”. The real novelty lies in the theme at the heart of the show: while “Up&Down” investigated love, “Din Don Down” embraces a new great concept, that of God.
Here is Paolo Ruffini returning to the stage, always intent on resisting the unrestrained incursions of the actors with disabilities of Compagnia Mayor Von Frinzius, in this case dealing with all the dilemmas and questions concerning the divine, regardless of the forms or appearances in which each one may recognize it. Unscrupulous, irreverent, at times sacrilegious, “Din Don Down” is the ideal antidote for an era that sacrifices every form of lightness and audacity at the altar of the “politically correct”.
Produced and distributed by Paolo Ruffini with his Vera Produzione and directed by Lamberto Giannini, the show has all the “ingredients” to repeat and surpass the triumph of “Up&Down”, from the unleashed freedom of the performers to the formidable ability to ironize on the present, all accompanied by the inevitable notes of Claudia Campolongo on the piano.
