“Cuba se defiende”, on stage the Banda Bassotti and the Malasuerte – FI Sud

The Fortezza Nuova is getting ready to host one of the most anticipated and significant events of the summer program. On Saturday, August 22, the Medici complex will host “Cuba se defiende”, an evening organized in collaboration with the Curva Nord “Fabio Bettinetti” of Livorno, which will combine live music, international solidarity, and cultural initiatives.

The protagonists of the concert will be the Banda Bassotti, a historic Roman band always committed to anti-fascist and solidarity themes, returning to Livorno for a special date, along with Malasuerte – Firenze Sud. The event aims to raise funds and medicines in support of Cuba, facing a serious economic and humanitarian crisis.

The evening will also be an opportunity to delve into the theme of international solidarity. Before the concert, there will be a meeting with David Cacchione, a historical member of the Banda Bassotti and author of numerous books dedicated to the travels of the Anti-Fascist Caravan, who will share the experience gained over the years in support of the Cuban people.

The initiative is also part of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the ultras movement in Livorno and the Curva Nord as a community. In addition to the concerts, the audience will be able to visit a photo exhibition, a display of historic amaranth jerseys, and stands dedicated to fanzines, books, and historical material of the hottest sector of Livorno’s fan culture, which has made history in the Italian and international movement.

The entrance ticket will have a popular price of 10 euros. The entire proceeds will go to solidarity projects for Cuba, and there will be a collection of medicines during the evening. As with the entire summer season, the food area under the pine forest will be open during the evening of August 22, with proposals from Melafumo’s cuisine, meat specialties from The Butcher in collaboration with L’Angolo della Carne, aperitifs from Chiosco in Fortezza, and pizzas from Pizzeria da Ugo. The bar of the Fortezza will also be open, a reference point for breakfast, snacks, aperitifs, and snacks throughout the day.
