Giovanna Bacci from Capaci – “The artistic experience in Italy of Elin Danielson Gambogi” – Saturday, February 24, 4:30 pm, Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum
On Saturday, February 24, the second appointment with Art Profiles arrives at the Fattori Museum, a cycle of conferences dedicated to the figures of four extraordinary artists.
On Saturday at 4:30 pm in the Red Room of the Museum, the meeting titled “The artistic experience in Italy of Elin Danielson Gambogi” will be conducted by Giovanna Bacci from Capaci, a historian and curator of the exhibition “Raffaello Gambogi, Art as Revelation“, open at the Fattori Museum until February 25.
The initiative will also be an opportunity to visit the exhibition a few days before its closure.
Elin Danielson Gambogi (Noormarkku, Finland 1861 – Antignano 1919) was a talented Finnish painter with a cosmopolitan life, despite the oppressive conventions that burdened women at that time.
Danielson, embarked on a painting career, garnered significant acclaim during her experiences, first in her native country and then in France. In the 1890s, she traveled to Italy, where she met Raffaello Gambogi, who later became her husband.
With the “post-macchiaiolo” artist, she lived in Torre del Lago and later in Antignano, where she died in 1919. Her production is characterized by a great interest in natural landscapes and female figures.
Participation in the conferences is free.
The initiative is organized by the City of Livorno with the cooperatives Agave, Itinera, and CoopCulture, and with the participation of the Fondazione Livorno.
