On the occasion of the first anniversary of the birth to heaven of don Gino Franchi, on the next 25th of March, the parish of Santa Elisabetta Anna Seton is organizing an evening of prayer and music in his memory, with Holy Mass at 7 pm, a buffet dinner in the theater, and then at 9 pm a concert in the church (free entry) featuring the participation of the Coro Polifonico Rodolfo del Corona, with the conductor Luca Stornello and the instrumentalists Giovanna Pieri Buti and Eleonora Mugnaini (Violin), Marta degl’Innocenti (viola), Elisabetta Casapieri (Violoncello), Michele Roffi (Double Bass).
The choir will present a program dedicated to the memory of don Gino and to the atmosphere of Holy Week, with a repertoire that ranges from different genres and styles, including solo vocal pieces from the Renaissance to spirituals in the first part, and in the second part the choir will be accompanied by the string ensemble for the performance of Stabat Mater by J.G. Rheinberger.
“Resterà la Luce” is the title of this evening that aims to remember the figure of don Gino, who dedicated almost his entire priestly life to the Seton community, with the construction of the Church, the care of souls, the study and dissemination of the writings of the first American Saint, Saint Elisabetta Anna Seton.
A portrait will also be dedicated to don Gino, created by the Livornese artist Massimiliano Luschi, which will be exhibited in the sacristy of the church, in memory of this priest who has left an indelible mark and who has been a friend, father, and brother to many faithful.
