FINAL CONCERT MASCAGNI ACADEMY

The Mascagni Academy 2025, scheduled from 3 to 13 June, confirms its international vocation with the selections hosted at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul) and the Stara Zagora State Opera in Bulgaria. The Academy represents the only educational center entirely dedicated to the verismo repertoire, offering a teaching experience of excellence aimed at young performers from all over the world. The highly qualified faculty is composed of leading professionals: Vanessa Candela, psychologist, will deepen the neural bases in singing, offering a neuroscientific reading of vocal performance; Fulvio Venturi, musicologist and member of the artistic committee of the Festival, will guide a path on Mascagni’s roles and coordinate auditions for future events; Laura Brioli, vocalologist and mezzo-soprano, will propose a lesson on “Vocal and emotional harmony”, focusing on vocal techniques applied to Mascagni’s repertoire; Renato Bonajuto, director, will lead participants in the scenic art, exploring the dialogue between word, body and music. The soprano Susanna Rigacci, vocal interpretation teacher, will offer a double lesson: a vocal technique masterclass and a module on “Verismo and new frontiers”. Elio Orciuolo, artistic director of the Erasmus Youth Orchestra and international consultant of the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari, will analyze the relationship between conductor and singer, with a focus on “L’amico Fritz” and “The Medium”. The baritone Massimo Cavalletti will conduct a masterclass on the dramatic interpretation of verismo singing, while Raffaella Murdolo, Artistic Administrator of the Royal Opera House Muscat, will illustrate criteria and dynamics of artistic selection and casting. A comprehensive training path, between technical analysis and emotional interpretation, designed to train the opera protagonists of tomorrow.
