Color. There where the gaze speaks with the sea. Finissage of Giorgio Di Giorgio’s exhibition.

The exhibition, inaugurated on February 10, set a record of visitors: about 1500 art enthusiasts and art coincided with the life of the artist.

The exhibition will close on Sunday at 4.30 pm with an exceptional finissage: the reading of a selection of stories written by the painter interpreted by the actor and theater director Emanuele Gamba and translated into music by the pianist and composer Michele Stefanini of Camaiore who composed pieces inspired by art, but also by the humanity of the Viareggio artist linked to the city for reasons of family history.

The anthology traces the places and themes of the artist’s painting, which has its roots in the history of the coast and the Tuscan land, with painting cycles dedicated to seascapes, docks, and port workers.

The artistic and human experience of Di Giorgio soon intertwines with Livorno. The context of Livorno is linked to the welcoming attitude towards diversity, volunteer efforts towards the disadvantaged and disabled in the area, and the relationship with the local Jewish community that recognizes his family’s great merit in saving the lives of some persecuted by racial laws.

Through a careful observation of the world, an essential phase of the artistic practice, Di Giorgio combines a profound reflection on the themes of life and work, but also of solidarity and social commitment. And it is through the suggestive power of color that the artist captures, interprets, and transfers the true essence of things onto the canvas.
