Capraia Music Festival 2024

At its nineteenth edition (CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL PROGRAM), the Capraia Music Festival now represents an unmissable event not only for classical music enthusiasts, but also for all those who, visiting the island, wish to find stimulating musical proposals set in a unique and suggestive context. Praised by the press as a high-quality summer festival, from its first edition the festival reveals the very spirit of Capraia, inspired by culture, relaxation, and spontaneity. This year, like last summer, we will have the opportunity to take part in two weeks of events, one in July and one in August, with the chance to become familiar with the beauty of the island, thanks to the inclusion of the artistic project itself in the island’s architectural and naturalistic setting. Established musicians and young talents meet here, sometimes even making music together, often in the most scenic locations.
This musical activity also considers the cultural needs of the relatively large resident population of the island, which year after year demonstrates its appreciation for it.
The programming of the 15 concerts of 2024 is informed by themes we consider important, as well as surely enjoyable for the audience. An initial focus on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, present in the concert and workshop by Mario Brunello; contemporary music: we will listen to compositions by Jane Vignery, Nino Rota, Eugène Bozza, György Ligeti, Giuseppe D’Amico, Luciano Berio, John Cage, Emanuele Delucchi, Krzysztof Penderecki, etc., also premiering (a work by Fabio Vacchi commissioned specifically by the festival, a work by Massimiliano Damerini, and one by Giuseppe D’Amico); the collaboration, regarding the space given to young performers (seven concerts out of fifteen), with primary cultural entities such as the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and the Mozarteum di Salisburgo; the presence of important names in international concert music: in addition to Mario Brunello, the pianists Pietro De Maria and Benedetto Lupo (who also returns to hold a masterclass), and the violinist Pavel Berman in a duo with Riccardo Risaliti. The contribution of jazz is ensured by the presence of one of the best Italian pianists in this field, Antonio Faraò.
