Antignano in Festa – second edition

At the second edition, this year the thread that binds the various events, from concerts to the impromptu painting exhibition, is that of peace. This, the organizers argue, in the belief that well-being and lightness cannot do without awareness and civic commitment on such important topics.

The numerous events on the program will be spread throughout the neighborhood: from squares to streets, also involving the moletto.

The Misericordia di Antignano will ensure a shuttle service from 8 pm to 12 am on Sunday between the area of the church of Santa Lucia in Banditella, the center of Antignano, and Miramare.

The party will open on Saturday at 6 pm with a guided tour of the parish church in Castello square by Professor Lucia Gelli. There will also be a musical moment with Sandro Mercalli, an organ master in Montenero, who will play the ancient instrument, dating back to 1700, hosted in the parish. Following music by Haydin and Mercadante performed by Lucchesi, Di Rienzo, and Campanelli. The evening will continue on the stage of Castello square where poems and readings on peace will alternate with musical performances. Scheduled is the concert by Massimo Signorini, while at the moletto of Antignano the musical group Kozmic will perform “Peace & Love: the energy of rock greats”.

The day of Sunday, July 21, will also be busy with events: exhibition of artists and sale of handicraft products, guided tours, photographic and painting exhibitions, book displays, flower and plant exhibition-sales, workshops for children, parade of four-legged friends. There will also be numerous musical moments; among them, the performance of the Spring Time choir directed by Cristiano Grasso and the concert of Sonora Junior Sax, an orchestra of 70 elements including saxophones and percussion. For the very young, the moletto will be the stage for the concert of Zerbo. There will also be space for cabaret with Marco Conte, illusions with the Corte dei Miracoli, aerial dance performances, and ballet.

Among the novelties of this second edition is the burraco tournament that will take place on Sunday starting at 7 pm.

The eno-gastronomic part will not be missing: on Saturday, at 8 pm, a social dinner. The local businesses have geared up to provide food for all tastes and needs, from sandwiches with porchetta or lampredotto, grilled meats, boards, fried fish, pizza, and fast and economical restaurant services.

“I am particularly satisfied with this second edition of Antignano in celebration. We started last year – recalled the Tourism Councillor Rocco Garufo – with what was little more than an idea and, despite this, it turned out to be a successful and significant event. This year we have set ourselves an even more ambitious goal, that of doubling; therefore, not just one day but a weekend and an even richer and more articulated program. This leads me to say that we will always have to do better. It is a challenge a bit for everyone, for the municipal administration and for the Vivi Antignano association because when we want to enhance or implement initiatives of this kind, no one is enough on their own, there is a need for a relationship between the public on one hand and the territory with its associations, merchants, volunteers on the other”.

“Last year – declared Daniela Marini, president of the Vivi Antignano Association – we made a promise, if the first edition of Antignano in celebration was successful, we would have made the initiative a recurring event. The success was truly resounding, well beyond all our expectations. So, here we are at the second edition. The figure is the same as last year: involvement of the many talents, skills, availability that the village offers, in a collective and participatory work that in itself achieves the purpose for which this Festival is born, namely to regenerate places and people, being together and creating occasions of beauty and well-being”.
