Saturday, October 21st at 6:30 PM in Livorno at the bookstore “Le cicale operose”, at corso Amedeo 101, Anna Segre, a doctor, psychotherapist, and poet, who has already won the Camaiore Award 2022 with “La Distruzione dell’Amore” (ed. InternoPoesia), will present her latest collection “A Corpo Vivo” (ed. Marietti 1820) with Teresa Lucente. The readings will be performed by the actress Giuditta Cambieri.
It is Segre herself who writes in the introduction to her latest work, “This broken love speech in 84 poems, which go to a new line with each line, dividing into pages, is actually a single sentence, spoken as one until the end. It is a seamless woven fabric, with punctuation only used to catch one’s breath. It is a journey into the processes of thought, into the depths of hope, of desire […] Arriving and discovering, knowing, exploring. Venturing, despite the danger. Is there anything riskier than truly loving someone?” So, it is a journey that arises from desire, which is a life force that makes the body come alive.
And the body, in turn, learns to float in the difficult waters of the ocean: it does not die but breathes, it does not die but wants to “lose its grip”, it does not die but enjoys a “primitive/silent joy”.
Thus, “thing” appears among the lyrics. That which Anna Segre talks about but remains silent: “Let’s not say it. Let’s not pronounce it. This thing. Because when we talk about it, we make it exist. And when it exists, it is like the genie of the lamp”. It is Franca Alaimo in the preface who emphasizes that “the object of speech, that is, the feeling of love, does not find definitions and takes refuge in the approximate and colloquial term ‘thing’, or seeks identification with an already existing element in nature that approximates it in terms of vastness, mutability, and symbolic opposition of life and death: in short, a metaphor of the ineliminable conflict within every love relationship, but also of a desire for absolute physical fusion”.
Conflict and desire, therefore, in a constant dance that transcends laws, purposes, or protocols and unleashes a force that can jump over fences and find partial representation in music, literature, spirituality, and poetry.
