Sunday, October 6th in Montenero is scheduled the Ottobrata, itinerant event dedicated to the Madonna of Montenero, proclaimed patroness of Tuscany in 1947.
The initiative is organized by the ViviMontenero association with the participation of the Municipality of Livorno and the Tuscany Region, with the endorsement of the Diocese of Livorno and AT (Tuscan Bus Company), and with the support of the Misericordia of Montenero.
In the city’s tradition, the Ottobrata was among the most representative events for having combined the irreverent character of the city with the theme of the sacred, around the figure of the Madonna. The celebration, reserved for the people of Livorno, was held on the first Monday of October.
The idea is to revisit the Ottobrata festival in a contemporary key with the intention of uniting the city with the neighborhood of Montenero, which will be the absolute protagonist of the evening. The celebration will take place along a route starting from Piazza delle Carrozze up to Piazza di Montenero, an itinerary with some stops enriched by performances that will culminate, at sunset, in a show in front of the church. The evening will conclude with a convivial moment in the square with cutting boards and wine, typical of Ottobrata.
In case of bad weather, the performances will take place inside the Aula Mariana.
The funicular will be free for the occasion and will remain open until 11:00 pm.
Below is the program:
– 5:00 pm meeting in Piazza delle Carrozze
