40 candles for Siberia by Diaframma at The Cage

The tour celebrating the forty years of the most important Italian dark wave album, Siberia by Diaframma, arrives in Livorno. An unmissable concert for all post-punk lovers but also for music lovers in general, as this cult album from the 80s remains one of the most important records in Italian rock history. The trajectory of Diaframma as pioneers of Italian dark wave starts from Florence in the decade of synthesizers on one side, and of neoliberal triumph on the other, writing one of the essential chapters of the Italian alternative scene. An artistic production deeply marked by the classic dark and melancholic sound of post-punk genre, as well as by attempts of introspection and denunciation of the discomfort and youth anxieties that began to mark the new generations in the decade of social disengagement and dismantling of the welfare state. Their first album, Siberia, which became a milestone of national dark wave, was later judged by Rolling Stone Italy as the seventh most beautiful Italian album of all time.

Federico Fiumani, today the only original member of the band still in the lineup, returns to the stage to play this small great masterpiece in its entirety, along with Diaframma’s 80s repertoire. The celebratory tour started last November in Mantua and is making stops in all the best live clubs of the boot, once again enchanting the audience with Fiumani’s deep and charismatic voice and the band’s historic dark and melancholic sound. For the occasion, Siberia has been reissued on vinyl, including both the original recording on CD and a live performance from 1985.
