The review “The opera for 10 cents” – Or the opera in 60 minutes, the fresh and engaging initiative in the name of opera proposed by Fondazione Teatro Goldoni and Menicagli Pianoforti. Through three appointments at the historic Old Fortress the project continues to make accessibility and popularity of opera one of its identifying features; selected pages of lyrical masterpieces for narrator, soloists, chorus and orchestral ensemble.
The opening is on Sunday, June 30th, at 9:30 pm, with “Il Trovatore” by Giuseppe Verdi with the narrating voice of Mario Menicagli and the orchestral ensemble conducted by maestro Giovanni Di Stefano. Following on August 10th will be Carmen by Georges Bizet told by Daniela Morozzi and Turandot by Giacomo Puccini on August 16th with Daniela Morozzi and Mario Menicagli.
“The title of the review says it all – says the Director of Fondazione Goldoni, Mario Menicagli – The Opera for ten cents is a clear reference to Bertolt Brecht’s masterpiece, but the quote is not only about the ticket cost (10 euros for a single seat), it clearly aims to address a wide audience, not necessarily linked to the world of opera, for both those who already love it and those who wish to discover it for the first time”.
The one-hour performances will allow attendees to come closer to the heart of emotions that the great operatic masterpieces are able to offer, with a semi-staged and strictly in costume version, respectful of the dramaturgy and attentive to restore the charm of the highlights
