The event is scheduled from September 14th to 17th at the Hangar Creativi and Terrazza Mascagni venues
From September 14th to 16th, the second edition of the “Strabilianti” event will take place. The event, organized by the Strabilianti Committee and the Livorno Municipality, will be dedicated to Paralympic sports and the diffusion of disability culture: spreading, informing, breaking stereotypes, and old prejudices.
This year the event will take place between the Hangar Creativi and the Terrazza Mascagni in Livorno: the Hangar will host the conference part, which will address topics related to disability, sports for all, adapted technologies, motivational coaching, and the right to inclusivity.
There will also be sports trials and demonstrations of: Paralympic fencing, sitting volleyball, Paralympic golf, and table tennis. Strabilianti will host the exhibition “Gerarchia vinta” by Fratelli Pisabari (Atelier Blu Cammello), two sculptures by Fabrizio Giorgi (a Livorno artist), and the “Faro Strabiliante” from the Isis Einaudi Ceccherelli school in Piombino, which participated in the first edition of the Carlo Azeglio Ciampi Award “A mente aperta.”
At the Terrazza Mascagni, in collaboration with ConfSport Livorno, a Baskin tournament will be organized, a new sport inspired by basketball but with new rules to ensure maximum inclusivity; furthermore, the discipline of Yoga a Raggi liberi will be presented for the first time in Livorno, which is practicable by everyone and devised by Patrizia Saccà (Paralympic athlete, bronze medalist in table tennis at Barcelona ’92), who will be present throughout the duration of Strabilianti.
At the same time, the Committee will inaugurate an accessible path in a section of the Monti Livornesi, involving green coaching experts.
The 2023 edition will see the essential involvement of two particularly important partners: the University of Pisa, which has chosen Strabilianti as one of the places to orientate studies for its university, addressing teachers and students who will participate during the three days, through the involvement and collaboration of the provincial school office. And Avis Livorno, which will bring years of experience working in the area to raise awareness among people about culture and the importance of “giving.”
The evening program includes: on Thursday, September 14th, the screening of the documentary dedicated to blind fencing “Suono di Spade” at the Teatro 4 Mori, followed by the film “Il Sogno di Brent” by Andrea Lucchetta.
On Friday, September 15th, there will be a roundtable discussion “Università di Pisa racconta”, dedicated to university inclusion pathways. On Saturday, September 16th, there will be a special entertainment evening with Olympic and Paralympic athletes to conclude the event.
