The Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum, like the Museum of the City-Luogo Pio Arte Contemporanea ai Bottini dell’Olio, is one of the structures assigned to the Libraries and Museums Office of the Municipality of Livorno.
As the heir of over 150 years of history, the Museum preserves and exhibits in the 19th-century Villa Mimbelli a collection, mainly of paintings, ranging from the mid-1800s to the 1940s, with important works by Livorno artists (Fattori, Corcos, Nomellini, etc.) and some works by Tuscan and non-Tuscan artists (Lega, Signorini, Boldini, etc.).
This collection of about 400 pieces is featured on this website in the “Works” section, in its most significant part both from a historical-artistic point of view and in terms of its connection with the city of Livorno: 60 paintings in the “Catalog” subsection, and other paintings and sculptures in the “Thematic Paths” subsection.
The Museum carries out conservation and restoration activities, research and study, as well as education in collaboration with other institutions. Finally, it organizes, participates in, and hosts exhibitions and cultural initiatives.
