Environment, in Livorno arrives “Blu Next Livorno”: united to clean the coastline of Antignano.

An aperitif dedicated to sustainability. Next Friday, August 7th, the Sale beach and the Antignano moletto will be the location of the initiative entitled “Blu Next Livorno – Collaborating to take care of our sea”, promoted by the CIBM (Interuniversity Consortium of Marine Biology and Applied Ecology) with the sponsorship of the Municipality and the Biennale del Mare.

The aperitif time will be turned into a moment of coastal cleaning and territory protection, scheduled from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, to which everyone can participate as volunteers.

The event is born to raise awareness among the citizens, especially the new generations, on the safeguard of coastal ecosystems, also serving as a launchpad for the Biennale del Mare expected in May 2027.

The event program

The meeting and listening point will be guarded by the Sentinels of the Sea Chiara and Gabriele. Before the start of the activities, participants will receive an informative briefing focused on safety regulations and the correct ways of waste collection. The on-field action will follow: an hour and a half of beach cleaning to remove abandoned waste. The collected materials will then be disposed of correctly thanks to the collaboration and supervision of volunteers and AAMPS Livorno.

The event is characterized by a massive alliance between the scientific world and the associative fabric of the territory. “Blu Next Livorno” sees active support from important national and local organizations: Plastic Free, Sons of The Ocean, Mr Green, Legambiente Livorno, A-mare, Marevivo Toscana, Nautical Section Canottieri Antignano, Appartenenza Labronica, Praesidiomaris.

“This is an important initiative – stated the Municipal Environment Councilor of Livorno Giovanna Cepparello – where a prestigious scientific institution, within the Biennale del Mare, is moving to promote environmental awareness, to engage with young people and to make our community grow.”

“We cannot raise awareness if we do not provide examples,” highlights Dr. Anna Maria De Biasi, environmental manager of the CIBM. “On this occasion, specifically chosen at the time of the aperitif due to the high turnout of young people, we want not only to send a message about the importance of the sea, but to be the first to show virtuous behaviors necessary for concrete actions to stem from words. The strong participation of Associations, a fundamental link between institutions and citizens, is a strong example of the value of unity and collaboration to achieve tangible results”.
