The British singer-songwriter arrives in Italy. Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill (Ealing, November 5, 1948) is a British singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and multi-instrumentalist, known for being a founding member of Van der Graaf Generator and for his solo career. Active for over fifty-five years, Peter Hammill has explored a wide range of styles through a discography that exceeds fifty albums, always maintaining a strong artistic independence and standing out as a pioneer of home recording. Hammill, alongside his work with Van der Graaf Generator, has developed a solo career characterized by a constant search for musical and expressive innovation, with innovative compositions and intense performances. In addition to singer-songwriter music, he has experimented with musique concrète and written music for ballet and cinema. Since the seventies to today, he has continued to perform worldwide, alternating solo concerts with collaborations with various formations. After the reunion of Van der Graaf Generator in 2004, he has successfully pursued both the band’s activity and his own personal artistic path. He is still a dynamic and engaging artist, author of an extraordinary repertoire that has ensured him a prominent place among the most respected and loved musicians of his generation.
