VISITS TO THE LIGHTHOUSE OF LIVORNO

In the context of Straborgo 2026, the Italian Navy, Marifari La Spezia with the support of the Aps Il Mondo dei Fari – Ets will once again open the doors of the Livorno lighthouse to the public. The visit will allow, along the ascent, to admire several historical relics that have been used to illuminate the lighthouse from 1911 to the present day. In particular, in the watch rooms on the top floor, where the Lighthouse Keeper used to stand guard, in addition to a personal photograph by Maestro Paolo Bonciani that tells a Livorno seen from the lighthouse, ancient everyday objects will be illustrated. The 60-minute visit will end on the terrace where you can admire a unique panorama of the city from 50 meters high. The Cultural and Social Promotion Association IL MONDO DEI FARI-ETS, organizes monthly visits to Italian and foreign lighthouses and collaborates with the MMI, Institutions and Associations to develop initiatives related to social issues and to promote new activities that reflect our Associative spirit: collecting information, testimonies, stories and experiences of personnel who have lived in lighthouses; collecting, cataloging and restoring equipment used for the operation of lighthouses; organizing and illustrating exhibitions and museum displays.
