MODENA City Ramblers

By 2025 the band proposes itself in a special tour called ‘Appunti Resistenti’ which will feature the songs that, in its over thirty-year career, the group has dedicated to the theme of the Resistance struggle and the values of Antifascism. Alongside them, four new songs that represent a current chapter of the artistic path inspired by these themes, so closely linked to the identity of the “Ramblers”.

Of course, the ‘battle horses’ that inflame the stages of Italy and beyond will not be missing. “But the concert – MCR affirm – will be more than ever a joyful and convinced Resistant and Militant musical event, with those songs that, in these times of worrying social and political drift, become every night the song of a single People that recognizes itself in the Constitution and in the founding ideas of our Republic, because lived in a kind of secular communion of horizons that erases stage and distances”.

“The songs – continues the group – can only be small traces, little more than musical notes of that journey that started even before 1945, the year of Liberation, a journey often begun with broken shoes and only the baggage of a great Ideal, a journey that today continues in Democracy thanks to the sacrifice of many and the struggle of a People. Songs as modest acts of memory, whose artistic value may be debatable, but which belong to culture and tradition, and whose weight has solidified in a certain militant imagery. Partisan material, resistant notes”.

Short Bio

The Modena City Ramblers were born in 1991 as an Irish folk group, always in love with the music and traditions of the Emerald Isle. From there, a thirty-year period punctuated by successes, both from a discographic point of view and in live tours, in Italy and Europe.

After the stop in 2020 that forced the band away from their fans, accustomed to about 80 dates a year on stage, in 2021 the group returned to celebrate 30 years of career with the same spirit, with music and with extreme closeness to their audience. From 2022 to 2024, in addition to Italy with many concerts, the Modena City Ramblers touched with their live performances South Africa, Chile, Spain, Ireland, UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Luxembourg, passing through the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary.

In 2025, the Modena City Ramblers will present the new tour “Appunti Resistenti” around the world.
