Important theatrical event at the Enzina Conte del Vertigo theater in via del Pallone 2. “Women of Theaters” is staged. A work co-written by Anna Maria Vannini and Fiorella Chiappi based on the upcoming book of the same name. The show debuts on March 14th at 9:00 PM with performances on Saturday the 15th at 9 PM and on Sunday the 16th at 5 PM.

The two authors from Livorno, after “Trilogy of Livornese” and “Livorno theater of theaters,” have decided to write a text that tells the story of four Livornese women who have surpassed the city’s borders with their art and have distinguished themselves nationally: Celeste Coltellini, sublime singer, Carolina Internari, actress and theater entrepreneur, Palmira Orso, the world’s first orchestra conductor, Tina Andrei, a great singer and the first female actress to play female roles in the vernacular usually assigned to male actors.

The theatrical text is directed by Marco Conte and the Vertigo company to which the authors belong as a theater group and that has previously presented the two previous works.

This play, divided into four “blocks,” allows us to relive the human and artistic history of these four exceptional women and consequently highlights the people who have supported them and with whom they have collaborated. A tribute to the beauty of art and the memory of strong-willed women, which as everyone knows is a characteristic of Livornese women, among the first to feel emancipated and free.

A very challenging text – says director Marco Conte – because it features a cast of 25 actors and actresses, many costumes spanning from the late 18th century to the 21st century, curated by Costumeria Capricci and Claudia Baroni (for the role of Tina Andrei), and the task of finding an actress who could evoke Tina Andrei was almost impossible. Unlike the three artists Coltellini, Internari, and Orso, everyone still has in their eyes, minds, and hearts the great Tina, so if I hadn’t found an actress up to the task, I wouldn’t have even started. So I chose Valentina Caturelli, our actress and excellent singer, who will try, not to imitate, but to bring the character Tina Andrei back to life so that a worthy memory can be preserved.

The show, also dedicated to Giorgio Fontanelli on the centenary of his birth, will also pay homage to the traditional theater that saw its peak in “O Porto di Livorno Traditore.” A show penned by Fontanelli and mentioned several times in the text “Donne di Teatri,” as well as the most distinguished Livornese artists of the vernacular.

It was an opportunity – continues Marco Conte – to involve quality actors and actresses of the company who, for various reasons, could not participate in previous projects and who enthusiastically embraced the idea of returning to the stage. Also, within the hearts of the Vertigo company, since we are talking about women of theater, we must also remember Enzina Conte, whose centenary of birth is also celebrated.
