The 23rd of January marks the start of the stand-up comedy festival organized by AltraScena at Fortezza Nuova. The four events will take place in the Arches Hall following the rules of these particular comedic performances that involve a mic, no stage props, and a good dose of irreverence. Opening this Thursday at 9 pm is Tiziano La Bella and his show “Boome”, which has been selling out on tour in Italian theaters. Life stories mixed with dark humor where no topic is off-limits. Fresh from his latest work, “Dark”, La Bella is back with a new show because the insults he received so far were not enough and he is ready to take more risks, he promises. His texts are considered offensive for their uncensored language, finding approval among the audience that recognizes thoughts they normally don’t have the courage to express. The artist also boasts several TV experiences with monologues broadcasted on Comedy Central and Amazon Prime Video.
On Thursday, February 20th, at 9 pm, it’s Daniele Fabbri‘s turn. The Roman comedian returns to Livorno, after the successful performance last summer when he shared the stage at Fortezza Nuova with colleague Giorgio Montanini. The new provocative show is titled: “When she was there”. The artist plays with the question: “she who?”. “The first answer that probably comes to mind concerns a specific person” he states, “but can we trust an impression when we read a title?” And he continues: “if ‘she’ refers to an ex-girlfriend (…) If it were an abstract concept that young people no longer care about, like ‘reason’ or ‘retirement’?” A series of hypotheses serve as an opportunity for Fabbri to address topics such as detachment from reality, intensified with the spread of social networks, the consequent lowering of attention span, and the deceptions that often victimize users. An appointment to laugh but also to reflect on the society we live in.
“Io mortah Live” is the third title in the stand-up festival program, starring Laura Formenti on Thursday, March 13th, at 9 pm. “There are still lifes, dead hands, dead tracks. There are parts of us that die over time to give us new lives. There are people who die of boredom, sleep, fear. Others wonder if the h at the end of mortah is a typographical error, shake their heads and say: ‘Italian is dead’. And then there are live shows that would be dead without the audience, and it’s a shame not to see them live while you’re still alive… because you laugh a lot. A lot. To die for” reads the synopsis.
Closing the lineup at Fortezza Nuova is the performance by Chiara Becchimanzi on Thursday, April 17th, at 9 pm, with “Group Therapy”. The show is an unstoppable and hilarious stream of consciousness to explore old and new idiosyncrasies, indestructible stereotypes, those to be ashamed of, political correctness, fears of contagion, and the contagion of fears. The format is that of group therapy: no one excluded – anything could happen, promises the artist, as the audience will be actively involved, determining the (improvised) direction of the speech. “From hic et nunc to the highest systems, from the very personal experience of an actress, author, director, stand-up comedian, removals, evictions, the knife grinder and the umbrella repairer” she specifies “as well as that of every spectator, to laugh at ourselves, get to know each other, fall in love (and insult each other)… and then feel better than before. Obviously, with nothing resolved”.
