Don’t Look Now (A Venezia… un dicembre rosso shocking) is a 1973 film directed by Nicolas Roeg. Cast: Donald Sutherland, Julie Christie, Massimo Serato, Leopoldo Trieste, Sergio Serafini.

In Venice, during a vacation with her husband, a woman has visions of her recently deceased daughter. The couple meets two elderly women, one of whom turns out to be a psychic able to establish contact with the deceased girl.

Although the film retains some typical elements of the thriller-horror genre, it is mainly focused on the psychology of the pain caused by a loss and on the effects that the death of a child can have on a relationship. Apart from the strong theme addressed, “Don’t Look Now” is famous for its innovative editing style and impressionistic approach to images, through a refined use of color and light (in 1974, the film won the British Academy Film Award for Best Cinematography for Anthony B. Richmond).
