Timeless personal show by Alessandra Zocchi

Appointment with art for the exhibition “Timeless” by the Florentine artist Alessandra Zocchi who will be present at the opening on Saturday, October 19th at 5 pm at the exhibition spaces of Extra Factory in Livorno in Piazza della Repubblica (corner of Via della Pina d’Oro).

The exhibition can be visited from Saturday, October 19th to Thursday, October 31st with opening hours 10-12 and 17-19.30 (closed on Tuesday and Sunday mornings).

The works of Alessandra Zocchi have their roots in the pleasure of exploring and interacting with materials, driven by the need to manipulate, shape, and transform waste materials with her own hands. The creative process originates from an instinct, a need to physically immerse herself in the materials to give them new life. The artist’s attraction is that of discovering something precious and rare, a treasure that evokes the past not only in its form, but also in the color and nature of the material itself. Every fragment, even the smallest and seemingly insignificant, is revealed to her eyes as a microcosm, carrying new possibilities and a renewed life. It is through assembly that Alessandra manages to restore a sense of harmony and balance, an echo of distant and forgotten worlds that, despite being characterized by a precarious fragility, resist destruction and oblivion with strength.

This artistic process thus becomes a celebration of memory and a reflection on transience. Through her works, the artist manages to keep alive the memory of a lost time, capturing and preserving the essence of a past that can no longer return, but still lives in the materials brought to light. Her work is a bridge between the present and the past, a visual narrative that invites us to reflect on the value of materials and the significance of memory, transforming what has been discarded into precious testimonies of a world that resists, always and forever, in its fragile beauty.

Alessandra Zocchi was born in Florence where she lives and creates her works. Coming from an artistic background, she grew up in a context of fantastic and imaginary productions that put her in contact with a multiplicity of materials, brushes, colors, fabrics, irons, woods… that intrigue her and nourish her creativity.

At the age of 20, she started working in the field of education and was immediately fascinated by the way children explore, marvel, and wonder by manipulating objects and materials; it is from her attentive and constant observation of the childlike world that she learns to pay attention to the details, to the little things hidden in each object.

As a self-taught artist, she began her experimentation by drawing lines and geometric shapes on paper and stones, creating unusual and at the same time rigorous graphics.

Her research and experimentation with lost materials, as she calls materials abandoned to the wear of time, have led her in recent years to create assemblages inspired by villages and ships, landscapes, and unusual boats, but possible in her fantastical world.

For some years now, she has been attending the graphic design and engraving school L’Armadillo in Florence, directed by Master Manuel Ortega, where she has experimented and acquired interesting engraving techniques that have given her the opportunity to embark on new paths of exploration and artistic research.
